Visit Detroit Magazine

For over 10 years, we have provided editorial, design, production and photography services for Visit Detroit, the official publication of the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (DMCVB).

Working with the DMCVB, we help develop the editorial calendar, work with an editor to assign all stories, art direct and/or photograph original work for the magazine, provide all graphic design and page-layout, edit and copy-edit all stories and listings, and prepare and deliver final files to the printer.

The Henry Ford ‘Rock Stars, Cars and Guitars’ microsite

As part of our ongoing partnership with The Henry Ford, we were asked to design and develop a microsite for the Rockstars, Cars and Guitars exhibit.

The site is a combination of Flash elements and HTML pages. All of the pertinent Flash content is pulled dynamically into the files via XML documents and images stored outside of the SWFs, allowing The Henry Ford to easily update or modify artifacts in the exhibit or add additional artifacts as the exhibit progresses.

Gale Cengage Career Transitions Website

The Gale Cengage Career Transitions website is a new portal site that will allow users to self-evaluate their abilities, explore careers based on their answers and find job listings from around the country.

We created two versions of a prototype for Gale Cengage — a highly polished set of screens to guide the design of the finished product, and a clickable wireframe to allow test groups to interact with a working beta product. This allowed the project team and programming wing of Gale to better understand user needs and helped define the end product’s structure.

EEI Global Print Collateral

As part of a major revitalization of EEI Global’s brand positioning, Octane Design was chosen to design and extend existing basic brand standards into a comprehensive suite of marketing collateral.

The marketing kit was designed to be flexible and incorporate several distinct pieces including a folder, brochure, self-mailer, white paper template and portfolio samples.

We built upon the design we developed for the EEI Global website and extended the new standards across the entire range of self-promotional materials and ads placed in industry publications.

Anesthesia Revenue Management Identity & Print Collateral

To broaden their potential client pool and deliver a more sophisticated image, South Oakland Services changed their name to Anesthesia Revenue Management (ARM). We were selected by ARM and marketing partners Communications Collective to develop a new identity for the company, create a brand identity manual and develop a new marketing toolkit.

As part of the logo development process, we sketched and produced 12 rough concepts which were evaluated and honed into the new identity. A comprehensive brand manual was then developed to guide ARM in the usage and extension of their new brand.

Using the logo and brand manual as a springboard, we developed a folder and report cover to present the company to potential clients.

Anesthesia Revenue Management website

To broaden their potential client pool and deliver a more sophisticated image, South Oakland Services changed their name to Anesthesia Revenue Management (ARM). We were selected by ARM and Communications Collective to develop a new identity for the company and extend that identity into a new corporate website.

The new site was built in PHP with all content housed in a mySQL database. We built a simple content management system (CMS) allowing ARM to easily update text and add news releases as they occur.

The site also features the Revenue Velocity Calculator, allowing potential clients to see how much ARM could improve their accounts receivable turnaround time. We also designed and developed an online Dashboard, where customers can log in and track their account values, trends and deposit records. Both of these sections feature dynamic charting through the use of Adobe Flash and Flex.

Centurion Medical Products Recycling Program collateral

Centurion Medical Products is a leading manufacturer of quality medical products and services. One or their new services is a recycling program for linens and instruments. Centurion came to us with a vision of creating a brochure to showcase the recycling capabilities in an illustrative style. We took this concept and created a pocket folder with product sheets explaining literally and visually how the program works, complete with detailed drawings of disinfectant buckets and linen collection hampers.

DMCVB Annual Meeting 2009 / Annual Report 2008

The theme for the 2009 annual meeting was “MotorCity Madness.” With the Final Four rolling into town, Detroit was once again a showcase in the sports world. We developed a gritty style that translated into bold images on both pieces — the invitation and the activity calendar/annual report.

EEI Global website

As part of a major revitalization of EEI Global’s brand positioning, we were chosen to redesign, build and program a new web site and establish a graphic look for all subsequent marketing materials.

The overall goal of the website was to create more visual impact, increase the site’s interactive functionality and make the content easy to update.

The new concept emphasizes user experience and allows the viewer to interact with Flash elements on the home page and portfolio pages.

The site was built in ASP and all content for the site is stored in a SQL database. A simple-to-use custom content management system was built on the back-end, allowing EEI Global to easily update text, images, and add new projects to the portfolios.
