Detroit On the Clock Tour Event Graphic Design
Building buzz for Detroit’s biggest tailgate party
The Detroit Sports Commission and Visit Detroit asked us to help them dream up a pre-party experience for the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. The traveling On the Clock Tour morphed from a dream to a reality on the road within weeks.

Give direction and continuity to 1 people-centric experience that had to make 30 stops in 19 different communities in a little over 3 months
When the Detroit Sports Commission and Visit Detroit came to us looking for ideas for their traveling On the Clock Tour hype experience for the NFL Draft, we put our heads together with their teams and started thinking creatively to map out a plan. We knew we needed to draft (pun intended) and implement simple ways to give continuity to each tour event. Some brand assets might need to be personalized and customized. Everything needed to be mobile and malleable so the event would share one message, one look and one core experience no matter the location. Again, we knew we needed to do what we do best – team play. We had to apply the NFL brand guidelines for all the NFL Draft assets we were creating (see insert draft case study here) and give the tour that splash of Detroit attitude we know how to convey best.

Embed yourself in the project
Right away, we volunteered to act as site consultants, visiting each tour location with the client, taking measurements and dimensions, and identifying any special site needs. We also acted as brand ambassadors, identifying ways to apply the NFL Draft’s brand guidelines to all the tour’s assets. We took on the role as the tour’s core designers, creating branded vehicle wraps for Visit Detroit’s D-Rover, developing a massive collection of banners, window clings, lightboxes, outdoor truss signage and animations for the tour’s mini countdown clock. We were responsible for all Visit Detroit-branded directional and wayfinding signage, fliers and credentials too. Plus, we whipped up a keepsake Spirit of Detroit lapel pin.

Event graphics and branding that knocked it out of the park
The On the Clock Tour clocked in at 15,000 miles and attracted 10,000 attendees Jan.-April 2024, generating a ton of community excitement and regional hype for the upcoming NFL Draft weekend.
